Established in 1979, Blackfish Gallery is owned and operated by artists who represent a rich cross-section of the Oregon art community. One of our artists is always present during business hours, giving gallery guests a rare opportunity to discuss current offerings with the individuals who create them. Visitors new to the city will find the gallery conveniently situated in the Pearl District, now the cultural, culinary and retail heart of Portland.
Since its inception, Blackfish has hosted a wide variety of events, including talks by visiting artists, panel discussions, site-specific installations, theater performances and literary readings, and exchanges with galleries in other cities. In addition, Blackfish hosts emerging and guest artists in our Fishbowl space, a street-facing window showcasing works whose purpose is to engage the passerby.
