PDX is pleased to announce that represented artist Arnold Kemp has been selected as a 2012 Guggenheim Fellow in Fine Arts. Kemp's work was recently featured in Portland2012: A Biennial of Contemporary Art.

Newspace Center for Photography, located in Portland, Oregon, invites you to enter our 8th Annual Juried Exhibition. Winning images will be shown at the Center during the month of July 2012.
The competition is open to all photographic themes and processes, but the work should have been created in the last five years. 35 images will be selected for the exhibition and one photographer will be selected for a solo show at Newspace in 2013 and awarded $500. Regional, national, and international entries are accepted.
Known for his complex large format photographs of everyday objects, Isaac Layman uses digital techniques to transform the mundane into the monumental.
Emerging: New Photography Acquisitions at the Portland Art Museum features a selection of 50 photographs added to the museum's collection between 2009 and 2011 including 4 Lb. Strawberries by Isaac Layman.
This exhibition was organized by the Portland Art Museum and curated by Julia Dolan, Ph.D., curator of photography.

Hap Tivey is a Portland-native who was a founding member of the Southern California Light and Space art movement. Tivey currently lives and works in New York City and teaches at Bard College. It Happened at Pomona: Art at the Edge of Los Angeles 1969 - 1973 demonstrates how Pomona College’s extraordinary community developed some of the most important aesthetic currents of the late 20th century. The artists, both faculty and students, engaged the developing legacies of Conceptualism and Minimalism and forged transformations of these ideas that became prototypes for future generations. This exhibition chronicles the experimental art that emerged in the late 1960s and the role played by Pomona College in advancing these practices. For this exhibition Hap Tivey will produce a recreation of an early Light and Space work that merges painting and sculpture.
This exhibition was curated by Rebecca McGrew and Glenn Phillips and supported by the Getty Foundation. The exhibitions is accompanied by a catalog.
