In Landscapes and Pendulums - Then and Now, Stephan Soihl journeys into the heart of his dual long-term interests in kinetic art and watercolor landscape painting. Through pendulums and fabricated mechanisms of motors, gears, and sensors, Soihl’s kinetic sculptures explore the interactions of color, time, and space. With movement triggered by the motion of visitors, Soihl’s sculpture create constantly novel interactions as transparencies of colored plexiglass interact with the shapes and shadows of pieces of rotating geometric aluminum.
