This talk introduces basic concepts and history of Noh as one of the oldest continuing performing arts in the world. Professor Shimizu’s lecture is followed by a demonstration of Noh mask carving by Kyoto-based master-carver Ohtsuki Kokun, whose masks are featured in Mirrors of the Mind: The Noh Masks of Ohtsuki Kokun.
